Geoff Gottlieb is the permanent representative of the International Monetary Fund for Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe.

He previously worked at the IMF as a senior economist covering China and Greece. Before joining the Fund, he was a market strategist for the EMEA and LatAm regions at Fortress Investment Group, an economist for the LatAm region at Goldman Sachs, the chief economist for the Millennium Villages project at the Earth Institute of Columbia University, and the chief economist for Brazil and Nigeria at the US Department of the Treasury.

A graduate of master’s studies in political science at Brown University and bachelor’s studies in economics at University College Dublin.
